I nice as that always sounds, it will be a lot cheaper and easier to buy a prebuilt engine to the specs you want from any common engine builder. Even a basic crate engine directly from GM is cheap.

Re: 383 single turbo stroker build

Was going to build this with my father over time. Not too worried about the cost just a father son project. just trying to get some ideas was going to buy a 383 block from summit and start with that. But i really want to turbo it. So what will i need to do internally to make it last with a turbo??

Steel crank, good rods, thicker wall wrist pins. Depending on how much boost you intent to use, proper piston choice and head studs.

With a turbo, head choice isn't as much of a factor since the turbo will be pushing air through the ports instead of being pulled through so any reasonable aftermarket head will work just fine.

There's always shortcuts to an engine build but that doesn't mean the engine will last.

Turbo for towing you need to look at heat management. Gonna get hot under engne bay for a tow truck. I'd lean more towards natural aspirated with a tpi setup for the torque

However a tpi fuel injected deal with a small turbo will make insane low rpm torque. Keep compression low and run it on atleast 93 oct. tune accordingly. I'd run holley hp efi

You want port injection for this. Not tbi or carb

Turbonetics hurricane tc76-78 would be awesome for a solid 450-500 whp and 600+ lb ft. Dont need 383 cubes a simple 350 can do. Just want low compression 9:1 with alum heads or so. Gonna need to budget enough for that. Or do a L98 iron head 350 but rebuild the heads for screw in studs and new springs for a good mild hyd roller turbo cam. 10-14 psi will really wake it up and give towin power.

Fairly tight t4 housing to spool soon to get into prime towing torque band
