Re: Hood swap

Thank you for your reply. The only reason I asked is that I called Classic Industries and they said the 85 -92 z28 steel hood will not fit an 82 and that I had to use the 82-84 fiberglass hood, which is $499. The 85 steel is only $199.
I told them all the other hoods were listed to fit 82-92, so what is different from the 85 z28 to the 82 z28 as far as bolt on. I know what the differences are on the top with the louvers etc. That is why I asked the question.
I was wondering if there is any difference in the years so I could use the 85 hood on my 82. I thought it should bolt right on. I wasn't sure if there was any difference between 82 and 85 with the bolts and hinges. Does this sound right? Thanks again for any help.

Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: Hood swap

It'll fit, in a general way.

Bolts, hinges, latch, etc. are all the same.

The difference is, there are SOME early cars (CFI in particular) that had different hoods.

Since you have just yerbasic generic 6-cyl or LG4, being just a Berly, no problem. The extra 50 lbs or so won't even slow it down too noticeably.
