overall proformance

quick question here, that prolly has a quick answer, but it's been bothering me for some time. right now i have my stock 305 in my 82 T/A, soon i'm going to slap in a more powerfull 350 that pulls around 260HP or so.. my question is right now is with my 4 speed stick, i find my self using alot of gas because of not having that extra 5th gearand the RMP's staying kinda high.. when i get this newer engine droped in, and all this extra HP, will my powerband widen so this problem wont be so evident?
thanks guys

that all depends on how you drive with your 350. evertime I do someting with one of my cars I think its gonna save on gas milage, but I end up just using the power all of the time :-) but it depends on alot of things. your cam, heads, etc. if its agas hog motor to begin with you probably won't get better mpg. let me know more about the motor your gonna put in. I'll try to answer your question better.

I'm sure you've heard the "There is no replacement for displacement" arguement when it comes to making power. This is because there is more air in the cylinder. More air allows more fuel. The more stuff blown up in combustion, the more power is made. The quick and dirty answer:
More cubic inches = More Fuel Consumption

If you are looking for mileage while retaining performance, buy yourself a 5 or 6 speed. I bought a TKO ... it is so cool.
