Alternator set-ups with electric WP
Getting rid of the serpentine system
Here's what I have now
No power steering
No AC
Electric water pump
https://ibb.co/hdUa0H
Have a crank trigger
So I guess I'll have to put the alternator on the drivers side.
Can it fit low on the drivers side?
Anyone have pics of their setup?

Re: Alternator set-ups with electric WP
BBC but the theory is the same. I have no room to mount an alternator down low. Engine sits lower than stock and I run motor plates. I have a remote mounted oil filter sitting on the side of the block on the driver's side. I run a crank mandrel and run 3 belts off it and have a crank trigger wheel.
With the alternator flipped around backwards, it's the inner belt on the mandrel. Custom made mount and the alternator doesn't care what direction it spins but it's not recommended for long drives as alternator cooling may be an issue. For drag racing, it works just fine. The CS alternator is also 4 pounds lighter than an SI alternator, has an internal fan and can charge at full amps even at idle.
Middle belt runs a belt driven fuel pump. Cogged drive belt to prevent slipping.
Outer belt is for the vacuum pump.
There are many mandrel options. I'm running a Moroso mandrel. Single long bolt through the whole assembly with a selection of spacers to position each pulley as close as you can get it to where it should be. Shimming of other components to line everything up is still required. Some other racers like the mandrel setup that bolts to the 3 holes in the balancer. Not sure how well they work with a crank trigger.

I've seen alternators mounted low but backwards, home made stuff on an 3rd gen. Firebird. that's belt end to the rear and body toward the front. It will still operate properly, not a super neat install, was on a drag car.
