Starting Problem
Hello everyone. I am new to this sight and have a question. I'm going to begin by telling you my build. I have a sbc 355 with flat top 2 valve relief pistions, Comp cam Dur 262-270 lift 462-480 using stock 1.5 self aligned rockers. Dart pro heads 64cc chamber using .041 Thick Head gasket (compressed) My late model starter will not turn the engine over with the plugs in. I can take them out it will spin but not very fast. I pulled the valve cover from one side and took all rockers loose on that side and it spun a lot more freelie. Could this be that I need a hight torque starter or could my valve springs be bottoming out? HELP
.

Re: Starting Problem
sounds like you're not getting the full 12V to that starter. some sort of big voltage drop or something. make sure the engine is well grounded and that the starter is well grounded to the engine (mating surfaces are clean before bolting the starter up). and of course you dont have too small a starter cable and it's not frayed or damaged and that all connections are clean and tight.
