1984 LG4 running rough, low revs
Hi guys, I have recently purchased a 1984 Transam LG4. It has been stored since July. the first time we started her up, no problems, nice high choke, good revs and power seemed OK. after spending a few days tidying the car up (didn't touch the engine in this time) went to start it up after a few days, quite a bit of smoke on startup, didn't seem to be running the choke, and i'm sure by the sounds of it not all cylinders are firing! it sounds really rough idling and when i went to drive it i was struggling to get past 1800 rpm. wheres the best place to start in diagnosing this or has anyone else had the same issues and how did you fix it? Thanks :-)

on a new-to-me 30+ year old LG4 I wouldn't start trying to troubleshoot until the major tune up items were replaced. Cap/rotor/plugs and wires. inspect the condition of the distributor while there. if in doubt swap it out as well, they're fairly inexpensive.

Thanks for the reply. I've ordered a new distributor cap, rotor, cover, plugs, leads, and fuel filter. They arrive Friday I'll swap them all out and see if it runs better. Fingers crossed!
