L31 Vortec heads CNC ported

i have a new set of GM L31 vortecs,, also looking at a dart 427 short assembly,,i understand a 210cc intake head is basicly what i need,, AFR/BRODIX/DART etc are all between $1500 and $2300 and a lot of warehouse heads have pretty basic parts from parts of the world you wouldn,t bother with.

GM Bowtie vortecs are 185cc or 225cc intake and are very expensive but great heads,,,, the vortecs i have are L31,s and i think 170cc,
My investigation shows Brazazenski cnc ports the L31 heads for sportsman racing and they support 550hp but i am not paying $2700 for these heads.

MY QUESTION IS,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Has anyone CnC ported the L31 heads and done a 2.00 intake and 1.60 valve job and spring upgrade i could put $1000 into my L31,S and have better American parts than the off the shelf warehouse heads. The L31 vortec supperior chamber and high LT1 type ports are a real good point to start.
Whats your opinion. I am in Australia and import taxes, freight and BS would push the AFR,s up to $2500..

I run AFR 245s on my 400 plus inch engine. I'd think 170s would kill a bit of power.

Re: L31 Vortec heads CNC ported

I mentioned CNC porting the 170,s cnc up to 210

it will still be better if i put $1000 into my heads rather than buying $3000 worth of off the shelf warehouse heads by the time i get them here

Re: L31 Vortec heads CNC ported

Putting cheap heads on a high quality, expensive short block just doesn't make sense no matter how you try it to justify it. A 427 short block is over $5000 here in the states. No way I would bolt cast iron vortec heads on one.
Aren't there Australian made sbc heads?
