I believe I have gas in my oil

So I was under the hood of my 87 Iroc a couple days ago (trying to get my fans to work) and I decided to take a break from that and check the oil. Pulled dipstick out wipes off replaced it pulled it back out checked it (was satisfied with oil level) put it back. I rubbed my nose with my palm and thought I caught a whiff of gas. So I sniffed my index finger, and I did in fact smell a hint of gas mixed with the oil. So to make sure I wasn’t tripping from sniffing the fumes I decided to do a burn test. I believe I do indeed have a small amount of gas in the oil. What would cause this? And is my wallet gonna hate me?

Pull the d-stick again and hold a lit match to the oil. If it lights, you definitely have gas in the the oil.

Re: I believe I have gas in my oil

Gas in the oil is from injector leak down or a flooded condition as stated. No other way unless someone dumped it in.

Make sure you get the oil out, gas in the oil will wreck engine bearings. Also, figure out how it got in there.
