Removal of Engine and transmission. Any tips and trick before I start?
Hi all, in about a month im going to embark on my engine swap from 305 to 383. As its an 83 with a 700r4 with the weaker 27 spline input shaft ive got an 89 box which is being rebuilt to street strip spec. Just wondering if its easier to take the engine and box out together or if splitting them is the way to go? Any tips or tricks? Ive done many an engine box change in a variety of vehicle but never a 3rd gen so just didnt want to make a rookie mistake. Ive got an engine crane and if its easier out of the bottom I have access to 2 post lift.
Thanks all.
Thanks all.

I'd love to hear about an out the bottom removal. they are far and few between, but probably because most guys dont have lifts. looked into it a while back, and it sounds like the way to go if you can. not sure how high you need to get car up to clear everything, was a concern of mine with mid-rise. my advice is take lots and lots of photos and tag and bag everything, even if you think you will remember it becaues you won't. I don't anyway. I also keep a notebook and draw pictures and notes and date everything so I can refer back to the photo that was taken the date of the bag or note.
