Can I fix this fuel sender?

Hi,

I just took my sender apart, and was wondering if anyone knows if it is missing anything. I can make it work by touching the pin to the resistance wire, but when its together it doesn't work. It looks to me like something is missing where the contact happens. Any ideas?

Yes.

Replace the entire assembly rather than trying to 'repair' it. And while you're in there, replace the fuel pump and all it's associated plumbing as well.

Buy top-quality parts for the job; considering the difficulty involved in getting to them, this is not the time to rely on cheap ebay Chinese crap.

Good luck.

I agree with ironwill on his first statement , repair isn't an option , replace the whole shooting match , sender , pump , sock , oh what the Hell might as well hit the fuel filter too .....

But as to the second statement about "top-quality" and "Chinese crap" ? , , , ,

Well I gotta ask , And not just ironwill in specific but the group here in general ;

Just how exactly does that correlate with the fact that EVERY time I lay out the cash for "top-Quality" and pay extra for the supposed "AC Delco" part , I see "Made in China" right there on the flippin box , same as I'd see it on the "cheap ebay Chinese crap" ?!?!?!

Face it gents , it's finally come to the point where the name AC Delco is just a relic of the past , a dead name they now use to squeeze a few more bux outta those of us who would pay extra for a quality part .....(This picture happens to be of a rear wheel brake cylinder , but for the past few years now this is how every AC Delco part I've bought has shown up , with the Made In China label right there in my face , mocking me for laying out the extra $$$ for nothing more than the same part in a more expensive pretty red , white , and blue AC Delco box)

Well I repaired it. I used braiding from a slot car and tie wrapped it around the pin. Worked like a charm.

I'll replace the whole thing sooner than later but now I have to figure out where my spark went...

fun and games...
