headlight motor gear problems, can someone help?

ok, i already know my headlight motor gears are stripped, iv taken them apart, and attempted to rotate the gears, but they are bad ALL the way around... so i decided to goto the junk yards and pick up a motor, so i got a light motor off a 84\86 (not sure which) for my 88, problem is, the wiring is different.. and so are the internals. so i drilled out the rivets, and the gears are in really good shape, however i don't know if they will fit in my current motor, so before i rip apart my current motors, does anyone know the diameter of the 88 gears?
