It is what it is. Strip only how long does it need to last? You wanna go fast you gotta live with shortened life unless you want to put money into something.
6500 on sbe doesnt worry me too much. But i would sure love to see atleast scat 7/16 bolt rods in it lol.

Hey guys so my heads are on the way. I went with the brodix 180's. I'm going to be sending them over to my local machine shop to have them milled so I can get my combustion chamber closer to 58cc. The only thing I'm worried about is valve to piston clearance with milling the heads. Do you guys think I will have an issue or should I run a little thicker head gasket to be safe. I was thinking about running a .015 head gasket. I just wanted to hear what you guys think before I send them to my machine shop. Thanks.

We are you at with this? (To save me from going through the posts more than anything).
Target compression ratio? Shortblock details as in piston dish and deck height? Did you zero in on a cam?
As for VTP clearance, that'll depend on some of the details above. And how you degree the cam.

Target compression is 9.7:1. It's just a standard L98 short block with 4 valve relief dished pistons and a deck height of 9.025. My cam is going to be a comp extreme energy 282hr.

So, Brodix 180's @ 64cc, stock L98 short block, 12cc dish at .025" down and COMP's XR282HR.
Cut the heads to 58cc as suggested. Run a .015" gasket (for .040" piston to head clearance).
Seems workable although I might keep the heads uncut and change the cam spec.
That said, I've run more lift with the same deck and haven't had a PTV clearance issue. Even advancing cam didn't stress the gap but it was close. BUT, you have to measure during assembly. There are no guarantees but chances are you would be ok.

Thanks for the info. I will definitely check PTV clearance when I build it, but its good to hear that I should have enough clearance.

Did you order the cam yet? I had a cam specced for the c4 l98 bottom end with afr 195 and miniram. Then decided to go with a 383, it's an erson hydraulic roller. Had planned to use it in a future build.. but it's basically very very close to the xr282hr. Gimme a few, I'll get the specs, it was bolted in but pulled out and never ran, still in the box with the paperwork erson sent with it. Has cam pro report too

Pretty wide duration split, but with third gen shorties and a single exhaust.. it could be what you need. Basic specs 286/294 adv 226/234 @ 50 (w 1.5 rockers) .365/.365 lobe lift on a 112 lsa

I’m running ported and polished 195s on a 355 with a Lingefelter .525/.525 219/219 112cl cam and 1.6 full rollers with a Stealth Ram. Works for me.

I have a Full roller vortec 355 It's compression with stock bottom and stock vortec 906s I’ve read up on are between 9:3:1 and 9:4:1end except mine is a 4 Bolt main one piece rear main seal roller cam at 554lift 554 exhaust 276/300 duration and 108lsa aluminum intake manifold aluminum self aligning, roller, rockers, roller, lifters double roller timing chain 195cc intake runners 64cc Combustion chamber afr aluminum heads flat top pistons with four valve reliefs with a summit racing 750 carb could someone help give me some pointers and lmk my compression ratio or torque and horsepower ratings I know there’s really no telling until you put it on the Dino but just thought some people have built the similar set up might have some insight thank you 😌🙂

All those mods and not a single period? Weird. To calculate compression ratio you need to know the specs of the following.
Bore
Stroke
Compression Height
Dish Volume
Head Gasket volume
Head Chamber Volume
You can then plug them in to any online calculator and get an idea for your static compression. These are only assuming you are using the advertised dimensions rather than you physically measuring them. Dynamic compression ultimately is more important but I don't think you're ready for that.
