Hvac vacuum hose question

So I recently bought a project '87 Camaro RS and had to replace the HVAC heater valve as it was cracked, leaking coolant, and smoking lol. The part has a little pinhole on top where I think(?) theres supposed to be a hose but I'm not sure. When I bought it no hose was present but maybe that's part of the problem. Does anyone know if I need this to make things work properly, and if so where might I find the part? Thanks a ton- (Hvac valve pic attached below)

EDIT: Ok so I figured out it should just be vacuum hosing that needs to be connected to that HVAC valve on top, but someone correct me if I'm wrong. That only leaves the question, what does that hose plug in to on the other side?? Thanks all.

Re: Hvac vacuum hose question

Yes, those valves use vacuum to open and close. The hose should be coming from the firewall. It'll be a hard plastic line with a rubber boot at the end.
this diagram I found shows what it connects to in the system.

Re: Hvac vacuum hose question

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I pulled out my engine and most other things months ago and I'm working on getting things together with the LS now. What vacuum cannister is used in the above diagram for holding vacuum for the HVAC controls? Does someone have an image? It isn't the "ball" from up front, is it?

Pretty sure it is the ball up front.
