Is 3.08 posi 28 spline any good? reply asap please..

My friend has a axle out of a 89 T/A for sale.. it is 3.08 posi, im looking for a good upgrade for my 82 Z.. it has stock rear, and I think they are 2.78 with no posi.. my new engine and tranny has the power, but my rears are hurting me.. so will I notice a good acceleration diff going to 3.08 from my stock setup? let me know asap please.

I'm not too sure but if its a TA with 3.08's it should be a 9 bolt. If so 9 bolts are the strongest GM made rears for our cars.
3.08's arent a wild jump from 2.73's but they are better. The only ratio that suits my needs is 3:42, but everyone to thier own.
