Steering Wheel Shaking all to hell
Steering Wheel Shaking all to hell
Im having a problem occasionally when I hit the brakes in my car. The steering wheel shakes bad. I checked my rotors and they were warped so I replaced them thinking that would fix the problem. It turns out that the rotors became warped because of the problem. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.

I must admit, I'm a little "Confuzed" with your question....
It turns out that the rotors became warped because of the problem. OK...so the problem is???
Seriously though,
I think I would check the brake calipers first. Sometimes the seals stick and they lock up, usually holding the pads tightly to the rotor and overheating, then warping the rotor. On the car I have, I bought it after sitting dead in a driveway for 4 years, and apparently, when the car sits idle for that long, brake fluid becomes "contaminated" with water and the rubber hoses going to the caliper swell internally and lock the pressure in the caliper. I would have never guessed it myself in a gadzillion years.....but someone on this board had "been there - done that" and that's what it turned out to be. That's why I like this board.
Take it to Car-x or Midas and get a free, or almost free estimate if you're unsure what the problem is. Hey! It's never a bad idea to get the opinoin from someone that does this stuff everyday!
