Re: Sbc 355 rebuild

Sounds like a pretty normal build to me. Should run decent if all the supporting parts are there. Depending of course to some extent on which "stock" gears you have. Let's hope they're at least 3.73.

I think I'd slide a Comp XE262 w/ 1.6 roller rockers in there. LS6 springs w/ 787 retainers, set em up to between 1.75 & 1.80". I'd also put whatever converter in it that would stall at about the RPM where the truck is doing about 40 - 45 in 3rd gear.

This is a forum for 82-92 Camaro & Firebird exclusively. Not a general tech or engine Q&A. Yeah I know there's a fair amount of knowledge around here about the older SBCs, and lots of people like to come on here and when this is brought up to them give us the "but... but... but..." and call the people who are offended abuncha a-holes, but still, the operative concept is and remains, EXCLUSIVELY. You might have good luck for further help on performancetrucks.net for example.

Re: Sbc 355 rebuild

Just curious what would be an estimated horsepower range on that build?
