I have a 1992 RS 3.1 That sits for a while and I have the same problem. I think there are a few things that could help you out.
1. If the starter spins and cranks, but then dies, it is low voltage in the battery that is causing it. Try to get some jumper cables, hook em up and see if it starts.
2. If the starter spins but the engine doesn't, it could be something isn't firing, and you might have to take it to a mechanic. I'd get a friend who knows what he is talking about to look at it before you take it to a mechanic (you'd save some $$).
