Fuel Pump/ Sender Wiring
Specs...83 Camaro Z28 w/LT1 swap from 93 Z28 Camaro and stupid wiring everywhere.
I have been chasing wires from my fuel pump/sender after installing a new combo unit. I can get crank but no fuel pressure. There are three wires coming from the body harness. Two are grounded (blk / white stripe and black) , and one is pink. The pink from the fuel pump relay routes through what looks like the ignition system under the steering column area and back to the body harness. The wiring is an absolute disaster under there. The fuel gauge reads always full, but since there isn't a wire going to the sender to the gauge shouldn't it read empty?
I checked the pink wire at the body harness with a multimeter and am getting 8.2 v on the hot wire at the back of the vehicle. I traced the pink up to the ignition area where it gets almost impossible to continue routing and get 8.6 v.
I checked power at the relay and do get a constant 12v but only at one terminal and it was constant it did not cycle off. I unplugged the relay and got 0 v at the body harness, so there is current passing through to the pink hot wire, but somewhere around the ignition area I am getting resistance and a voltage drop from 12 to 8.
Can I run a direct wire from the relay to the pump and then another direct wire from the gas gauge to the sender? This car and it's wiring is ridiculous. I also went ahead and tightened, sanded, and used dielectric grease on all my grounds.

Re: Fuel Pump/ Sender Wiring
I also found two grounds from the pump/sending unit. Both wires grounded behind the hatch release area in the trunk. That explained my gauge reading full all the time.
