I HAVE A 88 PONTIAC FIREBIRD FORMULA 305 TBI I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WHEN I PUT FUEL INTO THE FUEL TANK IT SPITS IT RIGHT OUT AFTER I POUR IT IN....I DID REPLACE THE FILTER ON THE FUEL LINE AND IT DRAINED OUT 9 GALS OF GAS BEFORE IT STOPPED POURING OUT...WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS ISSUE...

 

Is the fuel spewing back out the filler neck, or somewhere else from the tank?

 

out of the filler cap...

 

The EVAP lines, purge valve, and connection of the filler neck should be checked. It seems that something is trappiing air in the tank while it is being filled.
