92 Speed Density TPI, BAD COLD STARTING! HELP!

Ok, I did a search on this, but to no avail. When I start the car (car in sig), it runs OK, but the idle fluctuates a little. When Im drivin (when still cold) the engine rpm falls really fast.

If i let out the clutch too early, the engine will bog down, flutter around 2-400 rpm, and heres the funny part: sounds like it has about 12:1 comp, and like a 600 lift cam! If you have had this prob, ya know what Im talkin about... I gotta give it constant gas right away to get it goin normal again, if it dies, it takes some crankin to start back up.

Being a SD set up, theres no cold start valve, and I didnt have this prob a few months ago. Just wanted to get your oppinions b4 I go out and spend money on sensors which I cant afford at all at the moment. Hell, I can build em, but cant diagnose em too well...

WS6,

You may have a couple of problems. The low idle and hunting may be a symptom of a dirty throttle body and idle air control. Try cleaning them with a spray-type carburetor cleaner, paying particular attention to the IAC air passages.

You may also have a problem with the coolant temperature and/or intake air temperaure sensors. The ECM relies heavily on information from both of these on a SD engine to set target idle, manage fuel trim, and adjust spark advance for best cold performance. You should be able to trace teh wiring to each of these sensors and make sure they are connected. If you have a DMM you can test the resistance of the sensors at a given temperature. Compare your readings to the chart to see if the sensors are providing valid data to the ECM:

Could this be it?

Vader, thanks for the help!
Ok... so this morning when I was lettin the car warm up like I now have to, I was lookin around, and noticed that the coolant sensor on the passenger side head was disconnected... Musta knocked it off when I re-loomed my wires a while back. Now, I know this is the fan switch, but could this cause the probs im havin? Im gonna reconnect it after work, and check the IAC and such today if I can have one damn minute to my self!
