88 gta low idle question and no power seats
I just went to start up my 383 sbc
it idled at 200 rpm and was barly going
I had a oil leak and had to shut off the car after 30 secs so now I have to wait till tomm sealer dry times
I think the distributor is way retarded making it idle low if I turn it clockwise to advance it
advancing it will bring it up even with ecu control
Right
and the power seats don't work
they always do

Turning the dist clockwise retards the timing. Set it to about 8° BTDC with the timing connector unplugged; expect it to gain about 20° or so when plugged back in.
Power seats not working is probably because they're unplugged from the little junction block where they get power from, or their circuit breaker is tripped.

Possible, of course.
Likely, not as much.
Be REAL careful what you "refuse to accept". National events these days should be providing an object lesson in that, right before your eyes.
The fuse/breaker isn't in the fuse box. The seats don't get their power through that. They get it from the junction block up on the driver's side kick panel, kind of behind the hood release cable, near the firewall. Their feed wire is one of the red ones if memory serves. (there's pink and orange ones too if I'm not too misshapen)
