Help 90 iroc z 5.0 tpi
Hello, I’m not sure if this is the right place to post it or if someone posted something like this already. Okay, so I have a 1990 camaro iroc z with a 5.0 tpi I recently purchased. I changed out the Injectors yesterday. Ran fine all day. Now I wanted to start it and it would start but sounded like it was misfiring badly with smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. I did the paperclip trick to read the codes. I have the 43- knock sensor error and 53 codes. I’m going to attempt to change out the knock sensor. Does anybody know where the location of the knock sensor is? Any help would gladly be appreciated!

Left exhaust manifold, not far above the flange where the Y-pipe connects to it, pointing toward the front.

Wait a minute!! I'm sorry, I had an attack of acute long-term old-timer's disease. I screwed up. That's NOT where the knock sensor is. What I gave you is where the O2 sensor is.
The knock sensor is on the pass side of the block, about a half-inch above the oil pan rail, exactly halfway between the #4 & #6 cylinder sleeves, as a substitute for the coolant drain plug on that side. Right about next to the front of the starter motor. Yes you will most likely find it easiest to get to from underneath. Yes all the coolant will come out when you remove it. (unless it's so built up with rust and crud and the funk of 10,000 years that it can't) No it would probably not have any such effect, which is not the same as saying that it's fine, you don't need one, etc. etc. More likely, its wire or connector is damaged.

Re: Help 90 iroc z 5.0 tpi
Many possibilities:
Electrical connector broke/unplug
Vacuum line broke/unplug
Melted electrical injectors/others wires in touch into plastic protector tubes (most probable over engine)
Faulty ECM connectors
Cal-pack with faulty connectors (if the PROM was reprogramed too many times)
It could be a new problem starting now, not related to injectors replacement (sorry)
Take a time and start searching about this new condition in your car.
