A few weeks back I posted a photo of a burnt plug and found out many plugs on these cars tend to get burnt. The first one went to my blower motor and I replaced that and now I found this one. Can anyone tell me what it goes to? It is located just behind the large group of wires by the dip stick. It looks like at one time it was stuck to the firewall.
Trace the wire and find the load. I can tell you right now that these cars do not have burning issues, but all cars can suffer from bad grounds. If you have multiple plugs that look like that, it is due to resistance in the wiring. Check your battery terminals, replace your battery cables, and ensure that the grounds for the engine and chassis are in good condition.
Thanks for the reply. I have looked at all the grounds that I see and they are all good. I was told by another member these cars are known for plugs burning.
That would be me who said that, and my comment refers specifically to a specific system of the car, and the stooooopid connector design they used in it. It doesn't apply to "all" or just "any" of the connectors.
I don't recognize the one in your pic. I can't tell which color wires are in it except for the one that looks like it's pink or tan with black stripe. I don't think it's a part of the system in question (HVAC) but I can't really be sure. A better photo might help.
"Grounds" won't make a plug burn up in any case. The reason a plug burns up is either from too much current flowing in it (overload), or the resistance in the connector itself increasing to the point that even a normal load generates enough heat to fry it.
