Serpintine belt keeps falling off 98 3.8 camaro

I found going down bumpy back roads, sometimes I can't help it going to work, suddenly it's hard to steer n I'll find my belt slipped off. I've had it for a couple years but never drove it till recently. I bought it from a friend who just wanted to get rid of it. I noticed it rides close to the edge of the tensioner and the alternator pulley isn't aligned with the others. If anything it's back like 4 5 cms. Now like is said I just started driving it so I'm finding problems now. Would the alternator being back a lil rather then aligned cause it to want to slip? As far as I can tell it's the original alternator so idk why it's not aligned or if it originally was like that
