Motor mount question

Hello all, I have recently removed my transmission to replace my clutch. Now I really notice a considerable movement from front to back on my engine. I know the tranny mount holds everything together but I’ve been breaking those so I’m concerned the front to back movement may be excessive. I’ve only known to check motor mount movement from side to side which seems fine, mounts don’t appear to be broken as they have been replaced at some point with poly ones.

Can anyone offer advice? I’d rather try to deal with things now if needs as the car is 1/2 apart.

thanks

Re: Motor mount question
If you're talking about motion in the direction of up/down at the bell housing flange, it is normal. They have no strength in that plane.

Not saying "your motor mounts are fine", don't change em", or ANYTHING of the kind; only, they can't do very much at all to keep the engine from moving in that direction. That's what the trans mount is for.
