i have a 1990 camaro rs. transmission mount needs to be replaced almost every three months. want to install a solid mount. will it still flex? dont wanna have to buy another tranny. would it be a good idea for the motor mounts as well

Re: solid mounts
If you're breaking your trans mount every 3 months, something is wrong that needs correcting.

Re: solid mounts
What do your motor mounts look like? Mine were trashed so I installed the poly mounts that way I would hopefully only have to do it once. You can feel it in the cockpit to some degree but that's the way I like it. Some of the guys here are having allot of luck with the "Prothane" brand poly trans. mount. As far as the trans. mount breaking every three months I agree with FireDemonSiC, sounds like there's a problem there and the poly mount might just be a band-aid for a larger issue.

Re: solid mounts
You probably have bad motor mounts, and a worn out torque arm mount. Give it all a look....

Re: solid mounts
didnt think to check the torque arm bushings. looked at the others though. a little soft but not split open yet. how bout solid motor mounts and a poly trans mount with safety interlock to stop it from hitting the floor. jegs has the trans mount for 25.00 i think

Re: solid mounts
dont mind if i can feel the motor running with the solid mounts. but leave the trans mount poly. and got under it today and torque arm bushings do need replaced. anyone know a company that makes a complete bushing kit for suspension or do i need to piece one together. is there any other reason for the trans mount to break this often.

Re: solid mounts
Energy suspension has torque arm mounts, don't know if Prothane does? While you are checking stuff check the rear end mounts, lower control arms, panhard rod. If you are having that much play to break tranny mounts that often I 'd check the drivetrain front to rear. Check your u-joints while you are at it...

The stock tranny mount does not hold a good kick down and that stock mount is gone

If you have never swapped out motor mounts your in for a good time. Here's a link I found that may help some = https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech...ing-motor.html
Go with the poly motor mounts.Do it once and you should never have to do it again.
PS, I used lock tight on all the bolts, you'll see why.
Here's a link to the poly kits at my favorite place to shop = http://www.summitracing.com/search/Y...?Ns=Rank%7cAsc

Re: solid mounts
Some poly trans mounts will have the option of using 2 bolts, which will hold the trans in place a little better than the stock mount which has just 1 bolt.
