Ok so I just picked up a 1987 Camaro iroc 305 tpi she’s not starting not sure if this is the culprit of not but none the less I have to figure out where it connects.. the plug is off the harness near the distributor. please help

There should be another connector back there that it fits into. Here's a reference photo of my '89 I took while digging into it with all the connections in that area.

That's almost certainly the Mystery Plug, esp if the wires are pink/blk and blk/wht, as they appear to be. (ign power, and ground) Same as everybody else's. If so, it doesn't go to anything.
Best guess is, it was used during harness and engine assembly, before any of that was in a car; to allow the factory to hook up power to the whole system and verify that it worked right before installing it in a vehicle.
