Hello everyone.
So I recently had to remove my oil pan the replace a crusty cork gasket. Adding my turbos oil drains to the pan just finally killed the gasket and the thing was LEAKING. So I replaced the thing. Replaced it while the engine was in the car still. That was fun. Also found half my dipstick chewed up by my crank lol engine is great. Anyway while everything was off I got sight of my pistons and they looked very shiny. Compared to the rest of the cast items. Almost looked like aluminum. I remember removing stuff off a vortec 350 and those pistons looked nothing like the ones in my 305. I believe the engine casting is 210? 201? Its a 1985 IROCZ with the 85 LB9. I think the engine was replaced with a Monte Carlo SS 5.0 and got the TPI intake. I dont know if any of those cars got upgraded slugs. So these bad boys not cast pistons? Not like it matters. I think the engine still blows up around the same HP.

Cast aluminum IS aluminum. The 85 LB9 got the same flat tops as the 83-86 L69. Nothing special. Just plain old cast pistons.

Oh wow. I had no idea. See the ones I've pulled before and even in my dads LQ in his truck. They weren't that shiny. These things looked like my intake. But that makes sense. Anyway! I didn't know. Figured they'd be dull. Thanks tho!
