Would it be better to swap out the 305 or swap a 350?

Hi, I have a 91 Camaro z/28 with a 305 TPI engine & an auto I have a relatively tight budget. The most i'd *like* to spend would be around two grand on the drivetrain but I'm willing to shoot for three because I'll probably do a lot of "while I'm there" stuff & do routine stuff like replacing the rear main seal or engine mounts if they're bad for example. But at the budget I'm at, would it make more sense to get a 350? I'm shooting for 270ish HP (at the crank realistically but at the wheels hopefully) & a hair over 300 ft-lbs & I don't want it to grenade on me within a few months since a newish motor was put in recently & I just want a weekend cruiser that has a decent amount more power than it has without losing the loads of low-end torque characteristic that it has now

Quick answer is to find a L98 to swap in, you will be much happier and have room to grow later when you want more.

Go 350..You wont be sorry. I got this L98 for a song and replaced my L03 with it.

If you are budget limited you may want to spend the money on all the supporting stuff you will need as you grow power. Namely, fix all the broken stuff on the car and upgrade the exhaust (you can swap this over to a 350), brakes, suspension and such.

Search around for a good deal but make sure any 305 or 350 you get is a roller block. Factory L98 would be a great find
