how much for an alternator...non third gen?
how much for an alternator...non third gen?
one of my roomates car has been dying consistently recently. i replaced the battery and found out the alternator was dead-sears checked it. she got a quote from an auto parts store for an alt for her 96 honda accord-$250 just for the part. is this a reasonable price to pay, i remember when i picked up one for my camaro it was only 80 bucks for the delco series.
thanks

I'd call around to a few stores, but that price doesnt sound outrageous... my friend that has worked behind a parts coutnter says all import parts like that are pricey. Also, when you're finding parts remember all rebuilds arent equal... and a cheap rebuild is probably gonna leave you stranded more often then a good quality one, even if it has a lifetime warranty. I'd reccomend getting a part from a good store, I like napa parts.

Most newer import alts that I replace are in the $150.00 to $250.00 range....doesn't sound too bad, but as stated above, I would call around anyway.
