Re: Rebuilt constant missing on number Six

Magnaflux is not so effective with aluminum, whereas pressure testing could be more revealing. A good cleanup and inspection might even be telling. Casting porosity is not out of the question, and might show some coolant leakage into a runner.

Hopefully the shop does a thorough job.

Report from Machine shop. Cylinder heads in really good condition. Unfortunately, the last shop that did work on the cylinder heads did not use any sealant on the rocker arm studs. Oil drawn past the threads on the rocker am studs into the intake runner.

Pick up the heads Wednesday.

Oh man.... hopefully that's your issue. Very simple. Shame the head had to come off to get there, but at least you'd be assured you have a solid engine now.

Re: Rebuilt constant missing on number Six

I thought to myself that this could have been fixed without any disassembly, but (after some thought), probably worthwhile to clean it all up. Heads will be good from the machine shop. I have the cylinders clean. Fresh start.

I also pulled off the poly motor mounts. I will never do that again (of if I do, I will use a socket head cap screw).

The poly melted around the upper hex head bolts and had to drill, chisel, cut, grind the poly to get a socket on the bolts holding the mount to the block.

Back to DIY Tune with a solid engine (I hope)
