Need a new fuel tank! After advice...

Hi folks.

I am based in the UK and need a new fuel tank on my 1989 Formula 350 TPI. Rock Auto is usually my main source of parts as I can see all the taxes, shipping etc. Anyway, I was planning to order the DORMAN576183. A Will this fuel tank fit? If so, is there anything else I should order? I've read I may need a new filler cap but I just want to make sure I am getting this right and its very expensive and I will not be able to return in from the UK if there are any other issues!

Thanks in advance!
Jay

I have the Dorman tank in my 88’ GTA, the cap that my car had( aftermarket locking cap) fit the same on both the OE and Dorman which was surprising as you hear all the time about cap issues. Only issue was it didn’t like to take fuel from the pump as fast as before( a common issue with aftermarket replacements on these cars ) but now that’s it’s been just over 2 years it works much better. Be sure to pick up a new sending unit as the OE may be rusty etc. Spectra was the only option I had and it has been as accurate as the old one with no complaints. As labor intensive as this job is best to do it right once with quality parts

If at all possible I would try to deal locally with these parts in case the tank is damaged in shipping as my experience with returns and warranty issues with rockauto has not been great but I am guessing being in the UK limits your options.

These fuel tanks are not fully packaged, correct? The filler spout sticks out of the box and is often damaged during shipping.

Mine was shipped just as you describe so the likelihood of damage is high. A lot easier to deal with a local parts store if there is a problem.
