Fuel pump???
Fuel pump???
I was out driving the camaro yesterday when it started running like crap. When I attempted to accelerate the engine wanted to fall flat on it's face (stall). If I feathered the gas pedal it would stay running, but eventually it stalled. When I attempted to get it refired, it would run for a few minutes then stall again, after I attempted to accelerate. In the end, it wouldn't fire at all. It left me stranded 60 miles from home. Is this the fuel pump going out? I have a 83 with crossfire injection. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Too late. It cost $170 to tow it back to Toledo. Just under $100 for parts and $275 for labor. Not to mention 2 days of missed work. The car should be ready in a few hours. Thanks for the offer though.
It seems like it only happens after it warms up. When I picked it up this morning with the tow truck, it started right up, same as it did after the fuel pump was replaced. Any ideas?
Do a basic tune up. While it doesn't sound like an ignition problem, it will help rule things out if you start replacing plugs, wires, and cap.
Check the fuel filter. The garage should have replaced it when they did the pump, but some guys are lazy. If the outside is even slightly rusty, replace it.
If it's your cat, a lot of times a cat will get extremely hot when plugged. If it glows, that's usually a good sign that its plugged.
Are the injectors spraying properly?

I took all the good advise to heart and replaced the fuel filter while i'm waiting on the prom to get here. I noticed that, after I disconnected the outlet side of the filter, a small amount of fuel came out of the fuel line leading to the injectors. When I replaced the filter, and before I connected the outlet side back up, fuel was flowing out of the filter like a fountain.

the same thing happend to me two day s ago. it was the fuel pump. not that bad of a job if u ask me. i changed mine in the school parking lot where the thing took a crap. two bolts and three hoses. not bad if u ask me. the only tricky part was to hold up the pin in the block while trying to get the pump in under it. othere than that about half hour job. with a $12 dollar pump. just make sure u take tools with u.
easy for a carbed car, on a FI car you have to drop the tank (1 st step remove the rear end) yuck, or you can cut the floor (a hack, yes,but if it was already done when you got the car ) . it sounded like a fuel pump or fuel filter to me. i've had the same problem before. a control module will usually just die for no reason, especially after doing something with the electrical system.check for fuel preasure at the schrater valve on the fuel rail. if it's got good presure i'd start looking at the cat.
