Crank No Start Help
Crank No Start Help
Hey all. I have a 1992 Firebird 305 5.0L. I have been having an issue with it cranking with no start. I have recently replaced the battery, starter, and distributor cap/rotor. After replacing the distributor last Sunday, 5/26/2024, it was starting and running fine. Now today, it is acting up again. Crank no start. Had trouble starting then finally cranked. As I was driving the engine cut out, power steering went out, and interior lights were on.
What else am I missing here? I’m growing increasingly frustrated. Any help is much appreciated.

Shoot starting fluid, or pour a bit of gasoline, down the throttle bores.
Try to start it.
Yes/no?
Yes: you have a fuel problem. No: ignition system. Given your list of replaced parts, I'd suspect the distributor at this point. Probably involves the pickup coil no longer supplying reference pulses to the ECM.
All that about PS "went out" is as useless as **** on a chicken. OF COURSE, when the engine quit, the PS "went out". Doesn't have much choice about that. Kinda like, the lamp in your living room "went out", when you pulled the plug outta the wall. What else could POSSIBLY have happened?
