Tried to bring my dads 92 L98 Camaro in the garage tonight, but it wouldn't start or crank. I backed it out earlier today around 2 with no problems at all. Battery has plenty of volts, interior lights, headlights, etc. all work. I can hear the fuel pump prime when I turn the key. Connections at the battery were good. Tried tapping the starter a couple times but still no luck. Also when putting it in park, you have to really make sure its all the way forward to make sure its securely in park Position (not sure if thats relevant or not). Any ideas on what is wrong and what I can do to troubleshoot? Thanks for any help.

Forgot to add; it also will not turn over in neutral.

 

First off, if it won't crank, it's not going to start. So the question is, why isn't it cranking. If the car isn't in park it the starter won't be enabled. Try putting it in neutral and see if it cranks.

 

Yeah sorry I forgot to add that it wont start in neutral either.

 

I am having the same problem with my 92 firebird. I pulled it into my driveway and then about 10 minutes later I went to start it up and NOTHING so clicking or even trying to start. I then put it in Neutral and still nothing. The lights do not dim when i try to start but the oil pressure guage kicks to the right but that is all.

Did you ever figure out why your car wouldn't start?
