Does anyone have a diagram of distributer cap for an 88 350?
My car has had a nasty misfire since someone swapped one spark plug and wire (just replaced it) last year since it kept coming loose. It was an old plug.
I realized when inspecting it, all my plugs I believe are in the incorrect positions. I've seen a few diagrams, but i want to ensure I have the correct one before I replace and repair all the spark plugs and wires.
thanks!

The correct (factory) location of the wires is, #1 at the front, just to the driver's side of straight ahead; then the firing order, clockwise from there, looking down on the distributor cap is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.
When standing in front of the car looking at the engine the cylinders are numbered 1-3-5-7 on the driver side from front to rear & 2-4-6-8 on the passenger side from front to rear.
Technically there is no #1 position on the distributor cap. The #1 position is which ever terminal the rotor button is pointing at when the #1 piston is at TDC on the compression stroke.

Yes the car "will run" no matter which tower happens to be hooked up to the #1 plug, as long as the rotor is pointing to the right terminal when it's its turn to fire. However the plug wires will lay ALOT more neatly, and pre-made sets will actually FIT, if oriented the same as the factory (which is NOT arbitrary and random).
No way for anybody out here to know the answer to what you're asking. Precisely BECAUSE the car "will run" no matter which tower happens to be hooked up to the #1 plug. Just, we out here, have NO WAY WHATSOEVER to guess which one that is. No telling who's got their peter-pullers in there and "improved" things, or how.
