[305 TPI]. Where does the EGR valve actually route the recirculated exhaust to?

I'm getting a ton of exhaust coming out of my valve covers and I'm trying to determine if it's piston rings or a stuck EGR valve.

Or, bad intake gaskets (there are exhaust passages at the center of the intake on each side), or worn valve guides (exhaust leaking around the valve stems).

Take care of the simple eeeeeeezzzzzy (relatively) FIRST. Don't just jump to the worst possible conclusion (rings) until you've investigated the other things.
