Thinking about roller rockers, Q's within....

Im considering ordering a set of Comp cams magnum steel 1.6 ratio roller rockers. In considering them instead of aluminum ones for two reasons, one i've heard that you only get 30,000 miles out of some, but you could get an endless amount of miles out of them, and too mee, that seems way to iffy... Second, at 140 bucks, they cost half as much.
Now to the questions, I have stock rockers on there right now (assumed to be 1.5 ratio), now assuming i had a cam with .454" lift on the intake and exhuast side, How much lift would changing to a 1.6 ratio rocker add?

Second, i've never installed rockers before, but it seems like a fairly easy thing to do, so let me see if i have this right: take old rockers off, put new rockers on, tighten, then adjust valve lash.

Third, exactly how do i go about setting the valve lash? I had asked this question a looong time ago but i completely forgot the answer.

lastly, what kind of gains would i actually be looking at here? Im kinda doing this as a second option to a cam swap. ( i already have the cam with specs above).

i think that about takes care of it. If that made no sense let me know and i'll try again. ( i have a strange way of making no sense sometimes)

Eric

I believe to set the lash you only tighten to the point where there is some resistance on the push rod and then do like 3/4 of a turn. However, it might be different with roller rockers.

The Crane Cams Gold roller rockers will fit under the stock centerbolt valve covers. I hear they made the same rockers for GM (LT4 roller rockers) so I doubt they only last 30k miles.

Dont get COMP CAMS roller rockers

I bought some a week ago and tried to put my original valve covers. They don't fit! So take my bad experience and make sure to buy "narrow" rockers or you'll be sorry!

Oh, here's a pic to let you see what doesn't fit.

what part number rocker are you using? Are those center bolt or taditional valve covers? Just wondering if theres any difference in the years of the heads....

Just to be little bit more specific, i was planning on getting pn. 1416-16 out of Summit. Does anyone have any idea what the gross lift would change to after this swap?

As for the longevity of the aluminum ones, i never would have thought they'd be so short for life but i read a post on here a few weeks ago about how several people have gottne less than 50K out there aluminum rocker arms....

you'll be alright if you use pre 87 heads. after 87, it changes to centerbolt and you can't use comp cams stuff
