EGR Solenoid Valve 1997171 vs 1997173

Before everyone says one is N.O. and the other is N.C. respectively, I was wondering if the 1997173 is vented like the 1997171? Per the shop manual (see attached) it visually shows a non-vented for the 73 whereas the 71 is vented.

If I recall correctly the one I have is vented and is N.C.

Is this simply a miss interpretation in the manual or am I on the something or should I not be worried?

And, because I am experiencing a random Code 32 while running a Negative back Pressure EGR valve I'm also wondering if I should be running a positive? I'm running a L05 5.7 TBI with stock heads with TBI mods, shorty headers, high flow Cat. with 3" exhaust with an 89 5.7 Caprice ECM. Shop manual/parts list indicate needing a positive pressure for the L03 5.0 TBI but based on my mods, what do you think I should be running?

Thoughts?

Re: EGR Solenoid Valve 1997171 vs 1997173

I've bought the positive backpressure EGR Valve PN: 19209971 241107. Based on online reviews... this also carries the PN: 17113496, 19210666, 2145575. I have a small stumble during cruise condition the moment that I apply gas under a load. Not knowing what valve I had from the factory and currently running a negative backpressure with mods, I'll give this a go.
