Tuned Performance vs. Sinister Performance

Tuned Performance or Sinister Performance? What say you?

I'm looking to have a custom tune burned for my car. Nothing crazy - mostly stock 305 TBI motor. Mostly looking to remove VATS, remove speed limiter, and remove some of the emissions stuff. I've added shorty headers (doubt this needs any attention in the tune) and swapped from a 3.08 open rear to a 3.42 Torsen LSD rear (this might not make a difference to the tune either - not sure).

Have you used either of these guys? How was your experience? Would you recommend either/both of them? Is there someone else I should consider as well, or instead of them?

Thanks for reading! Looking forward to your responses.

Re: Tuned Performance vs. Sinister Performance

Ive used tuned performance for my 88 gta 305 TPI. Brian has been a great help. the chip worked flawlessly. Brian is pretty quick in responding to emails and messages. I had an issue with the chip he had sent me, turned out the idiot installer (me) didn't fully seat the chip. Brian even helped with setting up tunerpro rt on my computer and has looked at my data log. Which reminds me, I need to send him another data log since my car is driving again. I was doing suspension work when i had sent him a data log of the car just idling.
I have no experience with sinister performance.

Re: Tuned Performance vs. Sinister Performance

I haven't had any work done by Brian at Tunedperformance either, but I've heard nothing but good things.

And I second the comment that he replies quickly.... we've had various technical discussions over the years and he's lightning fast on his replies.

I also had bought something from him a couple of years ago that ended up having some issues and he immediately refunded me with zero hassle. So I'll vouch for his general approach to customer service as well.

Brian @ Tuned Performance is a Wizard on tuning these cars and has forgotten more than 99% of us even know about them

Tuned Performance has been a forum member and consistently very helpful poster on this site since forever. I've never seen anyone post anything negative about him or his services.

The other guy you mentioned; I've never heard of him.

Re: Tuned Performance vs. Sinister Performance

Brian at Tuned Performance, he is the man to go to for these fuel injection systems and has done so much for this community. I used him for a k2500 454tbi project I'm doing and he was very easy to work with, very knowledgeable, very fast, and very reasonable.

I recommend going with Brian at Tuned Performance. He is a wealth of knowledge. I have not had a tune done by him, but he has provided help on several issues I have had in the past while I was tuning my 350TPI modified engine swap. I'm still learning.

Re: Tuned Performance vs. Sinister Performance

Brian @Tuned Performance has helped me get my new engine up and running. I wouldn’t want anyone else touching my tune.

I have sent him datalogs and been totally surprised to get an updated tune back via email a few minutes or hours later. His communication is second to none.

Re: Tuned Performance vs. Sinister Performance

@everyone thank you for your support. I try my best to communicate what’s needed to perform custom
tunes and give a good value when datalogs are submitted. Even if it’s just a stock tune upgrade I’ve been giving it my all for over 20 years

Neither, if your looking to do just those basic things buy the equipment from Moates and do it yourself the software is free the equipment will run you 140-$150 and you can retune on the same chip till your heart desires. I recently read a supposed performance chip from a vendor that gets rave reviews and the only thing changed besides the VATS and emissions being checked off was 4-6 degrees of timing in the last two columns, what was even more embarrassing was that these changes weren't even continued into the EXT SA table

failed to mention a sf27c512 28 pin isn’t a direct replacement for a 24 pin prom. I charge accordingly. The mods he’s requesting are not to hard but getting a uv erased 2732 is the most challenging part.

Re: Tuned Performance vs. Sinister Performance

I have only been a member for less than 1 year and Brian at Tuned Performance has been a great help in getting my electronics back to oem specs and functioning properly. I would definitely highly recommend him. I have not had any dealings with Sinister Performance. 👍

I've been going through Brian (Tuned Performance) for something like fifteen years on both of my thirdgens. Wouldn't use anybody else.

Re: Tuned Performance vs. Sinister Performance

Brian all the way! My experience with him has been nothing short of superb, and not just me but for my buddy who he tuned his car also. As others have said he has been a valued member to this board and it's members, this should be a no brainer for anyone looking for help with not just tuning but other computer and electrical issue.
