For R134 Which Oil, How Much Oil and Which Orifice Tube?
I'm getting ready to finally replace the compressor on my 1986 Camaro IROC Z. Car was converted to R134 in circa 2013. A shop did it. Compressor always has had a minor leak in it that has gotten worse and worse over the years. I have run dye through it myself and confirmed the leak. And before anyone says anything yes I am replacing the evaporator along with the compressor.
Reading through probably a good dozens old threads on this forum going back to circa 2007 or so. I've seen a ton of posts telling OP to replace the orifice tube with a red, orange or blue one from Ford. The most specific I've seen is someone suggesting to grab a 90s For Orifice Tube. Would any 90s Ford V8 work?
Also which oil should I use? I seen some posts suggesting Ester Oil others 100w PAG oil. How much oil total? I've seen some saying the system only needs 5oz others saying it needs 8oz. It might have three in the compressor. Should I add 2oz to the compressor and 3 to the evap?

You should replace the accumulator as well. Flush the hard line and replace the hoses with new barrier style hoses. At that point you want Pag 150 for a R4 compressor. You want a parallel flow condenser with R134a and a dual fan assembly with a shroud that covers the whole radiator.

Ford Red 0.062" is what I have had the best results with in most GM systems.
