A few questions about heads....
A few questions about heads....
Ok guys heres the deal I have a 89 Formula with a LO3 it has around 50,000 miles and I just replace the valve seals about 6 months ago..........and now its doing the same thing as what it was befor---- when I let it idle under hi vaccume and then just tap the throttle it smokes blue smoke------but anyway I replace the valve seals and it quit but the question I have is how come the wore out so quick? And another question I have is we have a 305 out of a 91 Chevy P/K at work what is the differance between Pick up heads and Car heads if any???? This is my only car and I can't have it down for the time it takes to have the machine work done on the heads........can anyone help me out. Oh yeah what type of vlave seals should I use O'Ring, Umbrella, or positive type.......? You guys have always helped me out can ya help me out one more time?
What type of seals did you put on the heads were they viton, umbralla, stock o rings I understand the umbralla seals wear out quicker some one else might be able to be more specific on why the seals are going out. You could have valve guides going out causing the seals to wear out quicker. If I were going to replace the seals in my heads I would use the viton seals.
