need some engine build advise

current situation:
1990 iroc with a 305 TPI 700r4

The plan is to swap out the 305 w/auto for a 350 t56

what i have already:
-donor engine from a 91 corvette with a 350 and 113 aluminum heads all stock.
-TPIS big mouth intake
-large runners
-ported plenum
-new cam
possible 1.6 rocker if needed

since i need to burn a new chip for the 350 i might as well change the cam and do a little work.
my question is with the 113 heads that I already have I don’t mind spending up to $600- $800 to make them better if I was going to buy aftermarket heads that’s what i would spend,
would buying aftermarket heads be a waste since it’s a TPI‘s would worked 113’s be sufficient with the parts that I have?

 

Personally if I were already gonna be spending aftermarket price I’d just get new. If you ever decided to go a different route than the TPI you’d have decent heads already. But if you could work the 113’s for a decent price that’s nowhere near the price of new and wanted to stay within a budget that’d be something to consider too. Just my thoughts anyway.

 

1.6 rockers are a poor mans cam swap. Since you're already going to swap the cam, get one with a grind that the rockers would have given.

I agree, no reason to rebuild those old heads, when you can get new for around the same price.
