3.8 / 4.3 engine ID
I need a lil help id'ng an engine I got last night. It is a V6, it came from what I was told an running Monte, didn't know year. I really don't want to pull the heads to check the bore as my Monte has thrown a rod an I need it back ASAP. Visibly are there any ways to tell the 3.8 and the 4.3?
Here are some numbers that were on the front pad
T0122DAS
1BB468143.
Thanks for the help, DL

Transmission: sure does
The 4.3s look just like a SBC without one cylinder on each side missing, and the dist is in the rear.
The 3.8s have the dist in the front like a Buick.
Also, the 3.8s wont bolt up to a standard bell housing for a SBC, they use the BOP bolt pattern.

The engine turned out to be a 3.8 229c.i chevy motor. Distrib in the rear, I found out because I ended up pulling the heads, the bore is well short of 4.00 inches. Thanks DL
