new esc sensor, msd ignition + coil, water down the carb, still carbon knock....
like it says in the subject, i poured a few small cups of water down the carb when i got her nice and hot, after i had changed the knock sensor and still i get the pinging and knocking. i'm running 91 octane (good as it gets around here) with a big bottle of that outlaw octane boost. even with the msd ignition and coil, accel cap/rotor, bosch wires all pretty much new (less then 1500 miles) i get this annoying spark knock. my gas mileage is about 9 miles to the gallon. my spark plugs have about 5k on them, they are bosch platinums. im not sure what condition they are in, could it be likely that one is shot? its gotten so bad its not even driveable. in park it flies throughout the rpm range and sounds good, but once you put it in gear its a total dog, it falls on its face so hard it dies. i'm clueless on how to fix it, and its got me missing college and college golf, if anyone has any ideas on where to look next, that would be greatly appreciated. as a side note, im only pulling about 6 (inches?) of vacuum when you hook up the vacuum gauge to the back of the carb where it measures manifold vacuum. thanks in advance

if they are thebosch +4 plugs they look cool but dont work very well check those, it sounds similar to a problem a friend of mine was having with his blazer and that the coil was dying off it started out slowand then nothing so I would check into that as well. The MSD box may be making it work for now but it could be on the way out (just a guess) but I would thing the MSD would burn the coil out quickly.

Even if it's not "the" cause, you should get it fixed ASAP.

One other thing...the fitting you're measuring vacuum from, you sure it's intake vacuum? Or could you have the idle screw so high that the blades are open, causing some ported vacuum to be present all the time?
Do you have control of the idle mixture bleed screws?

i dont really know where the vacuum leak is coming from, ive checked all of my lines, but my transmission shifts really funnily when i took it for a spin earlier, could there be a vacuum line associated with the tranny that affects shifts? where would it be found? i changed the rest of my plugs, checked the wires, cap, rotor and switched back to my old coil and it runs a little better, but still has hesitation issues. the only screws that i adjust are my IAB and idle speed screws. when i drilled the cover off of the idle air bleed valve and changed my thermostat is when i experienced all of my problems. the thermostat didnt go in as well as id have liked it to (after a while a little coolant drop appears at the back of the thermostat gasket) but im almost certain it has nothing to do with it. im losing vacuum. at idle my car sounds good, it revs really well, i can rev it to 5500 rpm with no sweat, put it in gear and go for a spin and well, if you're not careful with the pedal it will slowly die. my fan switch broke a few weeks ago right where it connects and the wire going to the fan just hangs down. my oil pressure gauge was reading zero for a couple of weeks, but today when i was revving it up really high the gauge would move from zero to about 5. im lost.

I can't help ya a lick with the CC Carb, but I'd bet you a hot lunch that if the problems all started after you did some mods to the carb...that'd be the best place to begin the search.
Could be you did something wrong with the mod and it's correctable, or could be time for a new carb.
