rodents eating my spark plug wires
rodents eating my spark plug wires
Some chipmunks or other rodents keep eating the spark plug wires on on my 82 CFI T/A. This has happened to me three times already and is starting to be a major pain and waste of money. Anybody else out there have this problem? They eat the boots clean off the wires and sometimes eat the wires themselves!!
Strange thing is, they never seem to mess with my other 82 T/A with a carb'ed 350. I'm ready to try anything.. Before they start biting my vacuum lines too. The car is usually on pavement outside and covered up during the winter.

I haven't had anything eaten yet, but some kind of stupid animal thinks that the space between my plenum and my lower intake is it's home :nono: . every once in a while when i look under my hood there is a bunch of lint from the dryer vents and weeds in there. I am hoping that it doesn't try to make a snack out of anything though. Sometimes I take the car out before I go to bed and get it really hot and then park it for the night. I know a couple of times that has helped keep that sucker out of there. Good luck with your little rodent.
well... even though squirrels are just rats with a better suit
, I don't suggest you poison them. The thing will just crawl off and die and then your cat will eat it
.
Try chaining the cat to your intake...

I had this problem with a ramcharger I used to have. I ended up putting a hubcap under the hood with antifreeze in it. Critters love the stuff. Problem solved. Oh yeah, don't forget it's under the hood and go out to get a pizza.
hehe those are some crazy ideas.. I think I'll try the pepper idea and see if that makes a difference. The "decoy boot" idea is my favorite though..
I wonder why they just mess with my crossfire and not other car though. Perhaps the gas smell of the carb on that car keeps them away?
