Questions about taking out a/c
Yeah, I have a couple questions...Do I have to buy ANYTHING excluding tools to take my A/C out? I didn't know if there was like something you had to buy called an "A/C delete kit". If so, how much is this and can you get it at your local Autozone. Also, how hard is it to do this procedure because I know someone out there has done it. It's just that my heater core went out, and that's all I use, I don't use my perfectly fine running A/C. So I was thinking about ripping it. Thanks ya'll,
What is the trouble with getting this out, though. And what do I do with my radiator where it goes to the heater core??? Also, is there a website with some step by step information on doing this to a third gen F-bod??? Thanks, ya'll.

i took my A/C out and saved 46 pounds. You'll need two principal components: A/C delete idler pulley, and a non/AC heater box. I'd suggest ordering the latter from Camaro Heaven (800)Camaro-1.
Conversion instructions:
1) Take the car to an automotive air conditioning shop and have the freon evacuated. Most shops do it for free, since they can recycle the freon.
2) Remove the compressor. lines, and add the idler pulley.
3) Remove the condensor and flash the opening around the radiator with some black closed-cell neoprene from the hardware.
4) Remove the upper A/C shroud and take out the evaporator coil.
5) Remove the A/C blower box
6) Install the non A/C blower box.
7) Cut and splice in the correct connectors to the heater and the climate control coils.
You will now be 46 pounds lighter in the front end.

I might consider buying your a/c parts form you if they are still in working order. Reply to this thread or email me at tmmd@inreach.com if the parts still work.
