Strange sound when I was starting my T/A
I was starting my T/A today (its been in winter storeage) and did not have the air cleaner on.
When it was starting I heard something like hwiss and saw something (perhaps fuel) coming out of the carb (holley 600). It did that few times untill the engine started.
My engine is 305 HO(L69), it had a tune up last fall and but I am not sure the knew what they were doing (it hasnīt run as good as it used to, hesitates when I accelerate etc).
Is something I should worry about?
Thanks in advange,
Nonni

Nonni,
Do you have an electric fuel pump? Or were you cranking the engine? If so, the pump may have been filling the bowl to replace evaporated fuel. It's also possible that the float was stuck from sitting for months. If everything is normal and the car will restart easily after about ten minutes of hot-soak (after shutting it off hot), don't worry about the float idea.
Beyond that, I can imagine what may have been spewing from the carb.

Yes I was cranking the engine, but I donīt have an electronic fuel pump. I think your suggestion is right
