Gear Ratios. What's my speed and potential?pe
Does anyone know the ratios in a 84' 2.8 T5? Do you know if there any reductions?
MPH= (engine RPM x Raduis of tire) / (Final gear ratio x 168)
I just want to know how fast I can go stock with out going over red line. Just curios.
For those of you who are smart and say "Just look at your dash board. . .NO. I have bigger than stock tires in back and I'm NOT going to find out how fast I can go, not yet anyways. I need a car right now. Don't want to do anything stupid.
Take care,
Jon

A carbed 2.8 litre V6 probabily only has enough horsepower to go
maybe 100 mph in a f-body , so even with 3.73 rear gears
you won't over rev the motor, even in 4th gear. (1.00:1)
5th gear is an overdrive ratio, about 30% (1:0.70) So the rpm will
be even lower at the same speed.
Should be able to get the exact gear ratios from the tech archive on this site.
Of course you'd never drive 100mph on a public road, would you.
That would be stupid or something.
