You want to replace your ignition lock cylinder (aka the thingy you put your key in) but it can be a bit difficult a/o time consuming if you don't know what you're doing

You'll need to remove your steering wheel, which will require a wheel puller if you want to do it right, as well as a lock plate remover. You can rent those for a refundable $15/each from Autozone.

There are other posts about this, one by vader I believe, you can do a search for them using "lock cylinder" and read up on it.. I might also suggest buying a Haynes guide ($15 anywhere).. Chapter 10 or 11 covers your steering column.. and the other 9 chapters are helpful for about everything else.

I will say this however, if you can't turn your key in the ignition anyway, you will probably have a terrible time removing the cylinder. a new lock cylinder can run you from $10 (at autozone) to $25 (OE from a GM dealer)... if you call a locksmith out you can have them replace the cylinder for $60 if they're close to where your car is, ... but I also had quotes up to $105 when my keys were stolen (and had no spares).

Need anymore info, lmk
